SUMMARY:Warriors of the Blue - Painting Exhibition at Prasad Art Gallery by Dr. Pravin Puthra & Miss Pravya
DESCRIPTION:Karavali Chitrakala Chavadi presents \nWarriors of the Blue\nAn Exhibition of Paintings at Prasad Art Gallery by Dr. Pravin Puthra and Miss Pravya \nFrom 29th Oct to 7th Nov 2021\nPrasad Art Gallery\nBallalbagh\, MG Road\, Mangalore \n \nWARRIORS OF THE BLUE\nPainting & cartooning has always been Dr. Pravin’s passion which he continues to pursue as a hobby. The themes of his artwork are largely influenced by his research work in the field of fisheries and aquaculture. The collections of his paintings over the years culminated in a solo painting exhibition at Kochi\, Kerala in 2013 on the theme – ‘Fishing Boats of India’. He has been a regular contributor of cartoons in the ‘Fishing Chimes’\, a popular fisheries magazine of the country. The cartoons that appeared in the journal were also published as a book titled ‘Fishtoons’. \nHe also published COVID-19 Fishtoons in digital mode in 2020. The present theme\, ‘Warriors of the Blue’ is a collection of watercolor paintings inspired by the day-to-day lives of the fishers\, their culture\, and traditions. Capturing glimpses of the essence and beauty of their lives and livelihood\, contrasting the traditional and modern practices seen in different regions of India. This series of artwork was painted by father-daughter duo mainly during the COVID-19 lockdown period. The pandemic impacted various sectors in the world including the Fisheries and Aquaculture sector at large. This is a humble attempt to bring out the essence of the activities of the fishers in the country. \nStay healthy & safe and hope you enjoy the Exhibition. We take pleasure in inviting you and request you to kindly attend the inaugural and give a wide coverage of the event.\nThank you\,\nDr. Pravin Puthra and Pravya Mr. Koti Prasad Alva\nThe Artists \n  \nWarriors of the Blue – Painting Exhibition at Prasad Art Gallery by Dr. Pravin Puthra & Miss Pravya\nLast updated: Friday\, December 26\, 2025

SUMMARY:Art of the Week (Series 15) – Acrylic on Canvas by Obayya – S Cube Art Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Art Kanara Trust presents\nArt of the Week (Series 15)\nAcrylic on Canvas by Obayya\n6th to 13th Nov 2021\n\nS Cube Art Gallery\nKodialguthu Center for Art & Culture\,\nG. G. Road\,\nBallalbagh\,\nMangalore\nPhone: +919480014812 \nObayya\nVisual Artist \nBorn in 1981 Puttur\nMFA\, Rabindra Bharati University\,\nKolkata 2014\nBFA\, Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA)\, University of Mysore 2009 \nResidencies:\nPiramal Art Residency Cycle 23\, Mumbai\nLodha Palava Residency\, Mumbai\nSpace 118\, Mazgaon\, Mumbai\nArnwaz Vasudev Charities\, Cholamandlam\, Chennai\nKanoria Centre for Arts\, Ahmedabad\nHasta Gallery Projects\, Mangalore \nExhibitions:\nExhibited his works in Bengaluru\, Kolkata\, Mumbai\, New Delhi\, Ahmedabad & Hyderabad;\nIPEP International Print Exchange Programme\, Argentina\, Poland; New Delhi & Mumbai;\nBusan International Art Fair\, South Korea; Nuga Art House 24 Belsize Lane\, London \nI am an artist from Puttur\, South India. My artistic practices arrived form various observations from the travels I have encountered during and after my academic years. Which took me to Mumbai\, Kolkata\, Ahmadabad and now Mysore\, where I currently reside. In the last decade each travel has contributed towards the evolution of my artistic process. \nAn ‘individual’ in its multiplicity forms a mass\, a crowd. ‘Anthropology of Crowd’ as my interest and an ‘Individual as my protagonist’ forms my pictorial narratives\, where identity based explorations and rituals of the everyday life have engaged me as my subjects. Crowd and India are anonymous to my mind. Depictions of bugging populous overflow in full strength; be it at the stations\, queues\, at temples or festivities. Celebrations of the rituals of the everyday homogenize people of all faith into a composite identity enduring communal harmony within my works. \nWithin some of my recent works\, like I have depicted the spaces of transit\, like in Waiting for general compartment\, here sardine packed trains with its daily working force wait at the overflowing railway stations. Other subjects such as I am a good painter\, I want a job\, A play called life\, Instance \, Watering work-man are some of my playful depictions of commonplace\, mundane and the everyday. Garden worker\, Digital India\, A new veggie in balcony\, Day to day ritual\, As the youth fades are some more of such observations as explorations of the Metropolis in a flux. \nOne of my work which immersed me was of recent procession I had come across\, a Trishul pooja celebration\, a ceremonial activity of devolves of Lord Shiva\, enduring body piercing as a part of devotion as a ritualistic norm. My engagement as visual documenter allows me to bring in the Urban-Rural panorama of India onto my canvas as travelling experiences. \nLast updated: Friday\, December 26\, 2025
