A fun filled Diwali themed competition for children’s on 21-10-2017 Saturday, First floor, Bharath Mall, Mangalore. Registrations open at 11.00 am.

Category 1 – Age Group 4-6 years
Diwali Puzzle
A jumbled image and a sample image would be provided. The children would have to fix the puzzle and
complete the image. There will be a single simple image.
Rules:
1. Age Group – 4 to 6 years
2. Top 2 participants from each preliminary round will be qualified to the final round. The participants to
complete the puzzle fasted will be declared as the winner.
3. A parents/ guardian cannot assist the participant in resolving the puzzles.
4. The puzzles will be given by the organizers.
5. A parent/ guardian need to be present in the venue throughout the duration of the event.
6. The participants have to come 20 minutes before the event starts
7. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging process will be
reconsidered.
Story Telling (Any language)
A short story needs to be narrated here. The time given for the same will be 8 minutes.
Rules:
1. Age Group – 4 to 6 years
2. The participant(s) will be disqualified if he/she doesn’t show up until 3 times calling without any
reasonable permission. Participant will be called three times in a row based on their order of perform. If
at the last call, he/she doesn’t show up without reasonable permission from the committee, he/she will
be disqualified.
3. Each participant must stay at the competition venue until the competition ends, and must remain
silent when another participant delivers his/her story, unless permitted by the organisers.
4. Parents/ Guardians/ Supporters to remain orderly at all times.
5. None of the participants are allowed to read any story from text or keynote when delivering the story.
6. Participants can modify the story into their own version in order to not limit their creativity
7. Participants may use any of the equipment that follow their story, such as props, costumes.
8. The participants’ equipment may not consist any harmful material or sharp objects.
9. Participants are not allowed to bring properties that littering the venue such as liquids or powders.

10. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging process will be
reconsidered.
11. Time given per participant – 8 minutes for storytelling and 2 minutes for judges questioning
12. The story can be narrated in English, Kannada, Tulu or Hindi.
13. The story needs to be related to the mythological characters.
14. A parent/ guardian need to be present in the venue throughout the duration of the event.
15. The participants have to come 20 minutes before the event starts.
Drawing – Any theme
The kids of this age can draw anything they wish. They will be given 20 minutes for the same.
1. Age Group – 4 to 6 years
2. Time given per participant – 30 minutes
3. The participants are free to draw anything of their choice
4. Drawing sheets will be provided. Colours/ Pencils/ Erasers or any extra materials will have to be
carried by the participants.
5. A parent/ guardian need to be present in the venue throughout the duration of the event.
6. The participants have to come 20 minutes before the event starts.
7. A parents/ guardian cannot assist the participant.
8. Participants shouldn’t not distract other particpants

Category 2 – Age Group 7-9 years
Diya Decorations
A set of two clay Diyas will be provided to each contestant and they have to paint and decorate in the
best possible way.
Rules:
1. Age Group – 7 to 9 years
2. Time given – 30 minutes
3. The diyas (mud lamps) will be given by the organizers.
4. Participants are expected to bring all the decoration intended. Colors, Glue, Sequins, Paint, Paint
brush etc.

5. A parent/ guardian need to be present in the venue throughout the duration of the event.
6. The participants have to come 20 minutes before the event starts
7. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging process will be
reconsidered.
Greeting card making (Diwali)
Rules:
1. Age Group – 7 to 9 years
2. Time given – 30 minutes
3. The chart papers will be given by the organizers.
4. Participants are expected to bring all the decoration intended. Pencil, Sketch pens, Colors, Glue,
Sequins, Paint, Paint brush etc.
5. A parent/ guardian need to be present in the venue throughout the duration of the event.
6. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging process will be
reconsidered.
7. Judgment will be primarily based on the theme, creativity, neatness and artistic work done by the
participants.
8. The participants have to come 20 minutes before the event start

Craft from Waste
The kids can bring re-cyclable materials of their choice, and then they can make the craft as they desire.
Rules:
1. Age Group – 7 to 9 years
2. Time given – 30 minutes
3. Participants are expected to bring all the materials intended for the competition.
4. A parent/ guardian need to be present in the venue throughout the duration of the event.
5. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging process will be
reconsidered.
6. The participants have to come 20 minutes before the event starts

Category 3 – Age Group 10-14 years
Clay craft
The contestants have to make a diya each from the terracota clay. They have to make the diya as well as
paint it/ decorate it, if they intend to. The time given to make the diyas will be upto an hour.
Rules:
1. Age Group – 10 – 14 years
2. Time given – 60 minutes
3. Participants are expected to bring all the materials required – Terracota clay, Paint, Paint brush, Glue,
Sequins, Mould, Instruments for making the design etc.
4. A parent/ guardian need to be present in the venue throughout the duration of the event.
5. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging process will be
reconsidered.
6. The participants have to come 20 minutes before the event starts
Cooking without Fire
The contestants will have to prepare dishes from items that do not need cooking.
Rules:
1. Age Group – 10 – 14 years
2. Time given – 60 minutes
3. Participants are required to bring their own cutlery and utensils
4. Participants are required to bring all necessary ingredients for cooking
5. Cleanliness and hygiene of the participants workspace has to be maintained at all time.
6. Participants will be provided with water and a waste disposal bags.
7. Pre-cooked items and ready mixes (such as Puliogare mix, Bisibele Bath mix, Dose batter etc.) are not
allowed
8. No form of alcohol or intoxicating ingredients are allowed for any kind of preparation
9. There will be considerable negative marking if any precooked ingredient is found in the presented
dish
10. Only participants will be allowed inside the venue of the competition.
11. Spectators will not be entertained inside the venue once the competition begins.

12. Usage of mobile phones will not be entertained
13. Electric appliances (hand mixers, grinders, microwaves, blenders, etc.) are not allowed
14. No storage/refrigeration is provided
15. No processed /precooked meat/vegetables is allowed.
16. No processed juice can be used.
17. No icing is allowed.
18. Cutting/peeling of fruits or vegetables to be done on spot.
19. All types of sauces are allowed
20. All marinating to be done on spot
21. Each participant has to prepare 2 dishes.
22. One parent/ guardian is allowed to assist in the presentation of the dish in the last 5 minutes.
23. A parent/ guardian need to be present in the venue throughout the duration of the event.
24. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging process will be
reconsidered.
25. The participants have to come 20 minutes before the event starts
Rangoli
Rules:
1. Age Group – 10 – 14 years
2. Time given – 45 minutes
3. The size of the Rangoli shouldn’t exceed 4*4 sqft
4. Participants are expected to bring the powder, chalk, colors, flowers, edible items, required for
making the rangoli. No paint is allowed.
5. No electrical equipment’s to be used
6. A parent/ guardian need to be present in the venue throughout the duration of the event.
7. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging process will be
reconsidered.
8. The participants have to come 20 minutes before the event starts

 

Drawing (Theme-based)
Theme – Smokeless Diwali.
1. Age Group – 10 to 14 years
2. Time given per participant – 60 minutes
3. The theme for this competition is Smokeless Diwali.
4. Drawing paper will be provided. Colours/ Pencils/ Erasers/ Ruler or any extra supplies will have to be
carried by the participants.
5. A parent/ guardian need to be present in the venue throughout the duration of the event.
6. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence pertaining to the judging process will be
reconsidered.
7. The participants have to come 20 minutes before the event starts
