Hotel Nalapad Residency
Refreshing blends of your choice, only at the drnk lab
“Sugar, spice and everything nice”, while these were the ingredients chosen by the infamous Professor Utonium to create the Powerpuff girls, in the American superhero animated series, it indeed comes to mind when you visit drnk lab as you sample delicious concoctions that are whipped up with your favourite ingredients. That’s right; Chemistry just got a lot more exciting because when there’s food involved excitement peaks levels for grub lovers everywhere.
Rightfully called “drnk lab”, this exuberant yet pretty modest eatery, situated in the Nalapad Residency Building at Light House Hill Road, soothes your taste buds with delectable experiments where you get to pick what ingredients go into your drink. With its nicely lit up ambience, quirky seating area, European vibe and colourful panels, it’s always brimming with fun, food and conversations.
From creamy sundaes, mouth-watering sodas and faloodas, to teas and sizzling ice creams, the delicacies served at the drnk lab are nothing short of phenomenal.
While the cordial staff recommended us several drinks and quick bites, here’s what #aroundmangalore liked:
Berry lovers, dig into this humongous glass, that is incredibly flavorful, soothing and refreshing with generous amounts of raisins and nuts and chilling vanilla ice-cream to top it off.
This tempting mixed fruit lassi with apple, banana, grapes and strawberry is pleasantly sweet and the type of drink that you would want to keep sipping on again and again.
Nutella milkshake with ice-cream and toppings makes up for a divine treat that only Nutella fans would get.
Nut get together:
Besides the apparently bizarre name, this one does have it all together with an intense honey flavour and a copious sprinkling of nuts and whipped cream.
Yes, we do love our drinks, but what’s a place without food, so of course drnk lab has their fair share of quick bites like burgers and kinds of pasta. If you’ve been hitting the gym regularly, then you can have a go at their salads too.
So, since we’ve now run it all by you, it’s time to head out and conduct your own little experiments at the drnk lab. And while you’re at it, we sure would love to hear about them too.

Grab some delectable burgers at burger lounge
Haven’t there been days when you’ve just wanted to dig into a scrumptious, juicy burger? It’s time then, to make a quick dash to-burger lounge, a fast growing burger joint in town.
With a varied menu: chicken steak burger, cheese burger, zinger burger, chicken 65 club sandwich, sausage club sandwich, chicken lollipop, fish burger and more. They have some refreshments like ginger lime, watermelon juice, ballgrape, pista milk…
The burger meal is an excellent way to satisfy those hunger pangs, and it comes with a choice of chicken or vegetable burger, a side of crispy, golden fries and a milkshake of your choice.
We recommend the Zinger burger and the smoked chicken sandwiches, with the burgers having a delicious pate and loaded with garlic mayonnaise, lettuce, cheese and cabbage. Also among the quenchers, the Mint lime is refreshing, with just the right amount of sweetness and the tall glasses of milkshakes are rich and creamy.
The use of subdued brown to the cafe gives a homely, mellow feel and portraits of old telephone booths, Eiffel tower and the likes are placed on a wall.
Overall, a great place to chill with a group of friends and grab a quick bite.

Grubbery – Always Hungry (Resto – Cafe)
From small town comfort to continental extravaganza, have a look at Grubbery
If small excursions outside the city sound invigorating to you, then you must certainly visit Grubbery – always hungry, a resto Cafe located in Derlakatte, opposite Yenepoya University. Although, one is always tempted to return to familiar restaurants within Mangalore, it can be refreshing to occasionally visit eateries that lie beyond city limits. Long drives that culminate into an exceptional dining experience are perfect, especially with a pleasantly nippy weather.
‘Always hungry’, as the inviting tagline says is pretty much what we all are and at Grubbery, the excellent service, ambiance and array of dishes served are sure to fix that. Mangaloreans, who are forever on the lookout for palatable continental cuisine are in for a feast, with Grubbery’s varied and constantly upgrading menu; given that a sizable chunk of their customers are students from the surrounding area.
Grubbery dishes up some amazing starters, (Jalapeño poppers, chicken skewers in peanut sauce, chicken and cheese croquettes) but there’s no doubting their primary draw: Greek lemon chicken with garlic Aioli. Tender, juicy chicken, long on flavour coupled with the garlic Aioli sauce hits all the right chords! Surprisingly, another recommendation is their Fisherman’s soup, which we didn’t quite expect to enjoy so much, but the tangy, exotic flavours sure make this one a winner!
Nasi goreng,(literally meaning “fried rice”), a Malaysian speciality is all kinds of awesome. Try it on a breezy evening and breathe a contented sigh.
The crispy prawn burger with coleslaw is heft and tightly packed, but are, nonetheless, juicy bombs that were wolfed down in short order.
Another must-try dish would be chicken and spinach lasagna. If perfection took the form of pasta, this would be it: bursting with cheesy goodness, rich and creamy. Also, big enough to fill you up and come back later for tea and ice cream sundae monster shakes. Speaking of which, Charlie brown and Red velvet served in Mason jars are crowd favourites and rightly so.
Grubbery has a carefully curated collection of waffles and pancakes; throw in some chocolate sauce, ice cream or maple syrup, and you’re good to go. Non-meat eaters are in for a treat too: Eggless scramble, Fruit platter or their tasty green day breakfast are all great options from their all day breakfast line up.
With a premise that is devastatingly simple, yet exemplary and a menu that is padded-out with a repertoire of dishes, Grubbery is out-and-out a gastronomic treat.
