Want to flee the city? Here’s where you can spend the weekend and still be back to work on Monday.

It’s easy to see why procuring a summer booking at Tinton Resorts lovely homestay, and water park is the best thing you can do on the weekend, especially tagging little kids along. But while the Instagrammable river frontage and expansive gardens are a draw, it’s the highly coveted lush lodgings, floating restaurants and tree houses – that will get your brood grinning. Activity-wise, there’s enough to keep the whole family entertained and if nothing else-soaking in the pool amounts to relaxation at it’s best

The old favourites at any water park are still thriving, from the water slides, rain dance and rainbow shower, to the paddle boat, kayak, zip-line and the children’s play area flanked by the basketball court and various other outdoor sports. Other star turns include a well-equipped gym, ATV ride and a paintball area.

Although serving a wide variety of food and beverages, the grub is nothing to boast of and could surely use some improvement; while the blaring music that keeps playing all through the day could be toned down a bit, especially when one wants just to put up your feet and relax. The drive towards the Tinton Resorts is a long one, but thanks to GPS, it’s hard to lose track of, and the location lets you access famous attractions like Agumbe Sunset, Kollur Mookambika temple, Koodlu falls, Murudeshwar temple, Udupi Krishna temple, Malpe Beach, Maravanthe Beach etc.

Predictably, school vacations are the busiest times to go. Best to go in big groups to be able to enjoy all the resort’s facilities while still having the much-needed break from city life. While Tinton Resorts claim to have Wi-Fi, none of the mobile networks picks up in the area, except for maybe Airtel. Works out great for those who want to cut off contact with technology and bask in the smoothening freshness of nature.

Highly recommended: At Tinton Resorts the water slides provide an adrenaline-pumping experience and should not be missed!

Pavoor Uliya Island
Mangalore – 575029

Pavoor Uliya is an Island, located just 12 km away from Mangalore. The island has around 35 houses with a chapel and government school(which is closed). Netravathi River has been surrounded by four sides.

There is a meaning behind the name “Pavoor Uliya”. Uliya means “left over or remaining land”. The geography looks like jagged oval shape.

The basic source of leaving here is fishing and agriculture. Coconut trees and few other fruit trees like mango, jack-fruit are grown here.

During summer a temporary wooden bridge connects to the outer world. In Rainy season a common passenger boat meets the needs of transport from and to this Island. There are no street lights, no shops and no medical assistance inside the island.

To reach to this place, come towards Adyar (near Sahyadri college), then walk towards the river side which is approximately 1 kM. and from there you need to catch a boat towards the Island. Most of the times, there will only be one boat and this boat will be available from morning to evening.
